Connecting Markets, Empowering Communities
Soko Uganda, meaning "Market Uganda," is a pioneering e-commerce platform developed by Abercom U Technologies in partnership with the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Cooperatives (MTIC) and under the guidance of the Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA). Launched in 2019, Soko Uganda aligns with the Buy Uganda, Build Uganda (BUBU) policy—a government initiative approved in 2014 to promote local production, consumption, and procurement of Ugandan goods and services.
Our platform empowers Ugandan manufacturers, suppliers, and artisans to market and sell their products globally while offering consumers access to locally made goods at competitive prices. With over 4,000 registered vendors, including refugee-led businesses, Soko Uganda serves as a beacon of hope, inclusivity, and economic opportunity.
To empower local entrepreneurs and foster inclusive economic growth by creating a robust digital marketplace that connects buyers and sellers while promoting Ugandan-made products globally.
To drive Uganda’s economic transformation by:
Providing an inclusive e-commerce platform that supports the BUBU initiative.
Enhancing business competitiveness through capacity building, quality standardization, and branding.
Offering innovative financial solutions like microloans and e-wallet services to fuel growth.
Creating sustainable opportunities for marginalized groups, including women and refugees.
Hillary Mbabazi | CEO, Soko Uganda

Since our inception, we have been dedicated to reshaping Uganda’s economic landscape by empowering local businesses to thrive in the digital age. By aligning with the BUBU policy, we ensure that Ugandan products meet global standards while preserving their unique identity.
Our platform supports over 4,000 vendors, many of whom are refugees, demonstrating our commitment to inclusivity and resilience.
